Overview
Founded by chance after pioneers William and Sarah Nolen became waylaid by a broken wagon wheel in 1797, Nolensville has come a long way from its humble beginnings. In recent years, the area has experienced an explosion of growth, but by strategically shaping the influx of new development, the town has managed to retain and preserve its laid-back suburban charm.
Things to Do
Take a trip through history down Nolensville Road to the heart of downtown, where many historic buildings dating back to the 19th century remain in use to this day.
Antique lovers will be thrilled by the great selections offered at many of Nolensville’s vintage shops, including Three French Hens, Village Antiques & Gifts, The Painted Dragonfly and The Peacock Lane — themselves housed in charming, antique buildings. Plan on making a stop at the Nolensville Feed Mill, an authentic Amish store selling THE BEST cranberry chicken salad and cinnamon rolls, as well as Amish meats, breads and jams. Despite its wonderful out-of-the-way character, Nolensville is also just a short 20-minute drive from all the modern retail and commercial comforts of the Cool Springs Galleria shopping mall.
Residents can enjoy the great outdoors at Nolensville Park, which features a dog park and an array of athletic fields running along Mill Creek. Just a few miles down Nolensville Road is Arrington Vineyards, which is co-owned by country music artist Kix Brooks and provides a “wine country experience” set among the rolling hills of Williamson County. Wine tastings and picnic areas are available, and don’t miss their Music in the Vines series from April to November, featuring free music every weekend. Need a bit more adventure? Nolensville is half an hour away from both Henry Horton State Park and Stones River National Battlefield National Park. After you’ve worked up an appetite, enjoy some great southern cooking from Southern Hospitality Diner, Outlanders Southern Chicken or the newly opened Pork Belly Farmhouse. Craving Mexican? Check out Campo Azul, Oscar’s Taco Shop or Cabo’s Mexican Grill. You will find great burgers at Brothers Burger Joint and Hwy 55. Nolensville is also the birthplace of the nationally recognized and award-winning Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint, featured on the Food Network, Travel Channel and CNN.
Real Estate
Primarily consisting of single-family homes, the median real estate sale price in Nolensville is hovering around $600,000, making the town a bit more affordable than some of the other affluent communities within Williamson County. It’s this kind of real estate landscape that makes the area an attractive place for many young families looking for their first home.
Schools
Nolensville boasts some of the newest educational facilities within the award-winning Williamson County school system, including Mill Creek Elementary School, Mill Creek Middle School and Nolensville High School, all of which opened in 2016. The town is also served by Nolensville Elementary School, Sunset Elementary School, Sunset Middle School and Ravenwood High School. Nolensville is also convenient to private schools in Brentwood and Franklin.
