Overview

Situated 13 miles to the southwest of Nashville along the Harpeth River, Bellevue is a growing, family-oriented suburb that provides plenty of opportunities for enjoying the great outdoors. Despite being one of the hardest hit areas during the devastating floods of 2010, Bellevue’s subsequent rebound has empowered the community, and this exciting momentum shows no signs of slowing.

Things to Do

While the neighborhood is just a short 20 minute drive from the hustle and bustle of downtown Nashville, Bellevue is also in close proximity to several natural attractions. These include the prehistoric Native American earthworks of Mound Bottom, Percy and Edwin Warner Parks, the Natchez Trace Parkway and, of course, the Harpeth River, which winds its way right through the center of the community.

For some lower key recreation, a stroll around Bellevue Park is a must. Lovingly referred to by locals as the “Red Caboose Park” due to the bright red caboose car displayed on the grounds, the park features a playground for children and an exercise path for runners and walkers. The park also serves as a center for the community to come together. Every year, some 20,000 people convene on the park for the annual Bellevue Community Picnic. This free, public event, which has been running strong for nearly 40 years, features live music, food trucks, children’s activities and fireworks.

Getting hungry? A few standouts include the upscale sports bar Jonathan’s Grille, the ever-comforting Southern hospitality of Loveless Cafe, and Voodoo Gumbo for authentic New Orleans food.

Real Estate

Bellevue is currently in the midst of a major upswing in residential and commercial development. The average sale price for the area is in the mid $500,ooo range as of April, 2021. One Bellevue Place, a mixed use retail lifestyle center featuring shops, restaurants, office space, a hotel and 330 apartments opened in 2018. In 2019, Ford Ice Center Bellevue opened to the public and features public skate sessions, skating lessons, birthday parties, figure skating and hockey teams.

Schools

As part of Metro Nashville Public Schools’ Hillwood cluster, the Bellevue area is served by Hillwood High School, Bellevue Middle School, Gower Elementary School and Harpeth Valley Elementary School, which became immortalized in the hit country song “Harper Valley PTA.” Nearby private schools include Nashville Christian School and Ensworth High School.

Life in Bellevue

With all the growth and development on the table, there are exciting things happening in Bellevue. Overall, this neighborhood is an excellent, family-friendly choice for anyone who wants speedy access to the big city while also enjoying the tranquility and exhilaration of the great outdoors.
