Overview

There’s a reason why you’ll find this area at the top of every list about Nashville’s most desirable places to live. Nestled east of the Cumberland River, the East Nashville/Inglewood neighborhood is historic, hip and brimming with great eats, eclectic boutiques and a thriving craft beer scene. Residents of East Nashville love their little corner of the city so much that they even wear the dominant zip code — 37206 — as a badge of pride. It’s not surprising to see bumper stickers, t-shirts or other local merch giving a shout out to these 5 digits.

Things to Do

East Nashville is where you will find Nissan Stadium, home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans. With ample opportunities for local, independent shopping and top notch bars and eateries, you’ll never get bored of this part of town. A few local foodie favorites include, Lockeland Table, Margot, The Grilled Cheeserie and Mas Tacos Por Favor.  East Nashville loves donuts too! Some great places to try: Five Daughters Bakery, Donut Distillery, or East Park Donuts & Coffee, which always features Gluten-Free, Vegan, Paleo and Keto options.

Want to enjoy quality time in nature? Shelby Bottoms Nature Center & Greenway has you covered with 950 acres of riverfront multi-use park space that features a fenced dog park, athletic fields, education programs and water recreation on Sevier Lake. There are also a handful of smaller green spaces spread across East Nashville, including McFerrin Park, Cleveland Park, Douglas Park and the East Bank Greenway.

Real Estate

When scouting out homes, it’s important to note that the east side is actually home to a number of sub-neighborhoods such as Lockeland Springs, McFerrin Park, Historic Edgefield, Maxwell Heights, among others. There have been quite a few newer condo and infill developments sprouting up in recent years, but much of East Nashville is comprised of older homes dating back to the first half of the 20th century. The average sale price is a little over $420,000.

Schools

Since East Nashville encompasses such a large swath of the city, there are a lot of different schools located in the neighborhood. The east end as a whole is divided into the Maplewood and Stratford clusters, with several dozen schools spread throughout. While students in Lockeland Springs might attend Ross Elementary School, Bailey Middle School and Stratford Comp High School, students in McFerrin Park would attend Glenn Elementary, Jere Baxter Middle School and Maplewood Comp High School.
