The manor and grounds of Belle Meade Plantation, an expansive 19th century Greek revival estate that serves as the area’s namesake, is available for tours, wine tastings and events. Located just a few minutes drive south of the plantation is Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art. Opened to the public in 1959, this massive Georgian-style mansion estate was once the residence of the Cheeks, a prominent Nashville family, who’s wealth is associated with Maxwell House Coffee.

Further south, you’ll find the Percy and Edwin Warner Parks, which offer several thousand acres of multi-recreational space, with amenities like golf courses, hiking trails, athletic fields, idyllic picnic areas and an equestrian center.

There are a number of restaurants and retail shops along Harding Pike, and Belle Meade’s close proximity to Green Hills’ premiere upscale retail district means that you’re never too far away from world-class shopping.

Real Estate

From longtime family estates to newly constructed home, a wide range of different architectural styles and tastes can be found throughout Belle Meade. Homes typically fetch prices that are well over $1 million. In West Meade and Hillwood, which are established neighborhoods characterized by older ranch-style brick homes, vast rolling lots and a beautiful stock of mature trees, you’re more likely to see numbers that range anywhere from $650,000 and up.

Schools

Belle Meade. Hillwood and West Meade are in differing public school zones which includes Julia Green Elementary, West End Middle School and John T. Moore Middle School, H.G. Hill Middle & High Schools and Hillsboro High School. However, many residents choose to send their children to private schools. Harding Academy, located just a block from Belle Meade Plantation, is a standout choice for K-8 education.
