About Scott McMillan

Scott brings a unique combination of real estate expertise, business leadership, and legal experience to every client he serves. Whether helping first-time buyers, experienced investors, or homeowners in their next move, he is committed to delivering thoughtful guidance, skilled negotiation, and exceptional service from start to finish.

Most recently, Scott was the co-owner of Walker Lumber & Supply, a Nashville-based building materials company with roots dating back to 1949. In 2016, he and his business partner, Ray Hayles, acquired the company and transformed it through strategic leadership, operational innovation, technology and a relentless focus on customer service. Under their leadership, annual revenue grew from $22 million to $76 million, earning Walker Lumber the prestigious 2023 LBM Journal Dealer of the Year award. They also founded the company's nationally recognized Second-Chance Program, creating meaningful employment opportunities for individuals rebuilding their lives after addiction or incarceration. In 2025, Scott and Ray successfully sold the business to US LBM, one of the nation's largest privately owned building materials distributors.

Prior to owning Walker Lumber & Supply, Scott was Vice President and Associate General Counsel of Goldman, Sachs & Co. During his 17-year tenure with Goldman Sachs, Scott provided legal oversight for the real estate investment platform within Goldman Sachs Realty Management, L.P., a cross-divisional registered investment advisor to various divisions of Goldman, Sachs & Co. In this role, he focused on all aspects of real estate related transactions, including acquisitions, joint ventures, development, construction, leasing, asset management and dispositions of commercial, retail, industrial and multi-family product types. In this capacity, he provided strategic structuring, oversight and direction for real estate transactions, both direct equity investments and equity investments through joint ventures with operating partners. In addition to providing legal oversight, he also provided strategic and general business advice.

Prior to his tenure at Goldman, Sachs & Co., Scott was an attorney for Andrews Kurth and Bellinger & Suberg in Dallas, Texas.

Scott graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1991 with a B.B.A. in General Business, from St. Mary’s University Law School in 1994 with a J.D. and from Southern Methodist University in 1995 with a LL.M. in Taxation.

Scott and his wife, Traci, call Nashville home, where they are raising their three sons. Outside of work, they enjoy getting away to Colorado with family to fly fish, hike and generally enjoy the cooler weather.
